MADIERA BEACH, Fla. (Mar. 2) - The FAMU Softball Team dropped its’ first game in the EMU Invitational at Madiera Beach, losing 4-1 to Villanova Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 4-0 in the seventh, FAMU scored its’ only run on an RBI single by Hera Varmah, who drove in Shayla Boyd.
FAMU finished with five hits, led by Alexis Day with two hits, followed by Jamesia Stoudemire, Tyra Bowers and Varmah with hits.
Junior Kyaira Brown got the loss for FAMU, allowing four runs on four hits, with a strikeout in three and two-thirds innings. LeeAnn Hayes came on in the fourth, finishing with two and one third innings in the circle, striking out three, walking five, allowing one hit.
