Both Florida A&M University (FAMU) teams have qualified for the single-elimination event and will open play Thursday against teams old league rival Hampton University.
@ The FAMU Women (3-14, 2-3 MEAC), the Southern Division’s #4 seed, will open the tournament schedule at 8:30 a.m. Thursday against the #1 seed from the Northern Division, Hampton University (10-4, 6-0 MEAC).
A Thursday win would send FAMU to Friday’s semifinal round at 9:00 a.m. against the winner of Bethune-Cookman-Morgan State.
The Women’s finals are set for Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
It has been 20 years (1997) since FAMU’s last Women’s MEAC title, and they will be seeking their fifth title overall (1987, 1988, 1991, 1997) since 1987.
@ Meanwhile, the FAMU Men (8-11, 3-1 MEAC) will open as the #2 seed from the Southern Division at 4:00 p.m. against #3 Northern Division seed Hampton (4-9, 2-2 MEAC).
A win by FAMU would send them to Friday’s 12:00 noon semifinal against the Morgan State-North Carolina A&T winner.
The Men’s finals are set for 12 Noon on Saturday
FAMU will be out for their first MEAC Men’s crown since 2000, and their seventh overall since 1991 (1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 2000).

Four FAMUans Named All-MEAC Tennis
The MEAC announced Monday that four Florida A&M tennis players were voted to the 2017 All-Conference team.
@ Three FAMU Men were honored, led by first-teamers Walner Espinoza and Courage Okungbowa, who were joined by second-team selection, Frederico Nani.
@ Dominique Henry was the lone FAMU Woman honored, as a member of the 2017 Second Team.
