Tallahassee, Fl. (May 8th, 2018) - We are pleased to announce that John Capra has been named the MEAC Player of the Week for week thirteen of the 2018 baseball season.
Capra had a big weekend in Durham, North Carolina against the Eagles of NC Central. He scored his first run of the weekend on a Jordan Curtis single to third in the fifth inning of game one. Capra scored again in the ninth on a Jordan Curtis sacrifice bunt as part of a FAMU five-run ninth inning on the way to a 7-4 win.
John drove in his first run of the weekend on a seventh inning single up the middle that scored Malachi Mitchell in game two.
Capra would then hit his fourth homerun of the season in game three, driving in Bret Maxwell and Willis McDaniel in the second inning. He then drove in McDaniel and Brian Davis with a single to left in the third inning on the way to a 7-5 FAMU win.
In three games, Capra went 5-11, including three runs scored, a homerun and six RBIs. Capra delivered two multi-hit games, going 2-4 in game one of the series and 2-4 in game three of the series.
After the weekend, John Capra is now hitting .266 with four homeruns and 32 RBIs. He has eight doubles, 34 runs scored, and four stolen bases on the year.
Capra is the fourth Rattler to earn weekly MEAC honors this season, joining Brian Davis, who was named Co-Player of the Week in week six, Thomas Nicoll, who was named Pitcher of the Week in week eight, and Willis McDaniel, who was named Co-Player of the Week in week eleven.
