JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 27) – The FAMU Baseball team dropped its’ third game of the week here Saturday, as they lost a 9-1 non-conference road decision to the University of North Florida.
The two teams will play a pair of seven inning games in a Sunday doubleheader, starting at 1:00 p.m. at Harmon Stadium.
FAMU (18-26) finished the game with seven hits, scoring their lone run in the top of the fifth on Brett Maxwell’s sacrifice fly, that sent home Kaycee Reese from third to make the score, 4-1 at that point.
UNF (24-17) answered the Rattler tally with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to8-1. The Ospreys, which scored single runs in the second and third before adding two runs in the fourth, tacked on the game’s final tally in the bottom of the eighth.
Octavien Moyer, KayceeReese, Tucker Rayburn, Malachi Mitchell, Ryan Coscarella, Maxwell and Lawrence all had hits for the Rattlers Saturday.
Kyle Coleman (2-5) took the loss for FAMU, allowing fours on eight hits with one strikeout in three and one-third innings of work.
