GREENSBORO, N.C. (Mar. 2) – The FAMU Men’s Basketball Team dropped a 63-42 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference road decision to the North Carolina A&T Aggies at the Corbett Sports Center Saturday evening.
FAMU (11-19, 8-7 MEAC) lost for the fifth time in their last six games, after a 7-2 start to league play had them very much in the regular season title mix.
Doubtless the news that the team would be banned from postseason play due to NCAA APR sanctions deflated the club down the stretch.
The Rattlers trailed 30-20 at the half, but couldn’t manage much of the spark that led them to limit the Aggies to a season-low 39 points in their previous encounter in Tallahassee on Feb. 2.
Senior Justin Ravenel led the Rattlers with 14 points, including a trio of three-pointers, while fellow senior center Isaiah Martin finished with a 13-point, 13-rebound double double, along with three blocked shots.
The Rattlers had a dismal shooting performance Saturday, hitting just 16 of 57 floor shots, while knocking down just four of 21 tries from distance.
WHAT’S NEXT: The Rattler Men close the 2018-19 regular season in Daytona Beach Thursday against rival Bethune-Cookman (7:30) at Moore Gymnasium.
