KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Florida A&M Men’s Basketball players Justin Ravenel and Isaiah Martin were named Wednesday to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2018-19 NABC Division I District 15 All-Star team, selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division I.
Both Ravenel and Martin were 2019 All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) selections after turning in stellar efforts in their respective senior seasons, while leading the Rattlers to their best overall and conference standards in over a decade.
@ Ravenel, a first team District 15 selection, was a 6-1 sharpshooting guard from Lithonia, Georgia, who was also named recently to the Boxtorow Black College Men’s All-America Basketball team. He averaged 15.6 points per game and 2.3 rebounds in 31 games, while shooting and impressive 46.3 percent (105 of 225) from three-point range.
He set a FAMU career mark for made three-pointers in the final home game against archrival Bethune-Cookman, finishing his career two weeks later against B-CU with 284 made shots from distance.
@ Martin, a District 15 second team selection, was a talented 7-1 pivotman, whose defensive prowess proved invaluable to the Rattler resurgence in the second half of the season.
The Denver, Colorado native averaged 2.7 blocked shots per game, with 43 rejections in 16 games, recording a school record eight (8) blocks at Morgan State in January. He also averaged 9.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game overall, shooting a robust 67.6 percent (71 of 105) from the floor.
