Rattler Women Drop Road Game At UMES, 87-70

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (Feb. 5) - The FAMU Women's Basketball team suffered their fifth straight loss here Monday evening, falling to Maryland-Eastern Shore, 87-70, at the Hytche Center.

The Rattler Women (4-18, 2-8 MEAC) fell behind from the start, trailing 28-20 after one quarter and 52-38 at the half. UMES would edge out FAMU, 35-32 in the second half to close out the game.

Senior guard Florence Ouattara, who missed Saturday's Howard game with an ankle injury, returned Monday to lead FAMU with 26 points. Senior Ecenur Yurdakul had 10 points and seven assists, senior Shakeyrra Morrison scored nine points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while freshman De'Ayra Davis finished with eight points.

UMES (7-16, 4-6 MEAC) placed five players in double figures, led by Jordyn Smith with 22 points, and Keyera Eaton with 17 points.

WHAT'S NEXT: FAMU will return home for a pair of MEAC games this weekend, hosting North Carolina Central Saturday at 4:00 p.m., and Morgan State next Monday at 6:00 p.m.
