GREENSBORO, N.C. (Mar. 2) – The FAMU Women’s Basketball team (4-23, 2-13 MEAC) dropped a tough 77-53 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference road decision to league-leading North Carolina A&T (18-10, 15-0 MEAC) at the Corbett Sports Center here Saturday afternoon.
FAMU tried to stay in contention with the Aggies in the opening half, but thanks to 56 percent shooting by A&T, the Rattlers trailed 45-32 at the break.
The second half saw turnovers and their penchant for cold shooting rear their ugly heads, as FAMU scored 21 points over the final two quarters, including nine in the final stanza, as they shot 28 percetn from the floor.
Meanwhile, the Aggies scored 32 in the second half, finishing the game with a 22-point burst in the fourth quarter.
Junior forward Dy’Manee Royal led FAMU with 13 points, while freshman Mya Moye added 12 points, splashing a trio of three-pointers. Candice Williams added six points from a pair of triples, while Tyra James finished with five points.
